Evidence-Native Systems
An Evidence-Native System is a system designed so that verifiable proof of correct operation is emitted automatically as it runs. Evidence is captured at the source, tied to specific controls, and stored in a tamper-evident form, making the system continuously auditable by construction.
Explanation
In an evidence-native system, you do not "collect evidence" -- the system produces it. A deploy writes a change record; a login writes an access record; a test run writes a control-verification record. Each is timestamped, attributed, and linked to the control it satisfies.
This is the systems-level counterpart to Compliance Engineering: the property you get when controls are engineered and instrumented rather than documented.
Why it matters
Evidence captured at the source cannot be reconstructed incorrectly or backdated, which is exactly what auditors and regulators (CBN, NDPC, AICPA for SOC 2) increasingly demand.
It removes the single largest cost in most audits: assembling and reconciling proof after the fact.
How StackWeaver applies it
StackWeaver instruments a client's existing systems so they emit control-linked evidence natively, then connects that evidence to a consumption layer for auditors and investors. The Evidence Lifecycle walkthrough traces one record end-to-end; the Control Mapping evidence shows cross-framework reuse; the Client Portal Walkthrough shows auditor consumption.
The Evidence Automation solution implements the pipeline layer; the Compliance Platform Selection Scorecard helps evaluate tooling for evidence-native operation.
What this relates to
- Evidence ArchitectureThe three-layer model for how compliance evidence is created, connected, and consumed: Created & Captured → Stored & Connected → Verified & Consumed.
- Compliance EngineeringCompliance engineering turns regulatory requirements into working, tested controls that produce their own evidence. A plain definition and a worked example.
- Trust InfrastructureThe market category StackWeaver operates in: technology able to continuously demonstrate that it can be trusted, not just claim it.
- Audit ReadinessThe state of being able to satisfy an audit or due-diligence request on demand, with current, mapped, and verifiable evidence.
- Defensible Audit Evidence: What Makes an Audit Trail Hold UpWhat makes audit evidence defensible: captured when the work happens, attributable, tamper-evident, complete and easy to hand over. With a five-minute test.
- The Evidence LifecycleA visual walkthrough of how a single piece of compliance evidence is created, connected, and consumed — from an engineering event to an auditor's verification.
